Dear Friends,

DYR Malaysia in cooperation with R.A. Fine Arts Gallery will be organizing an arts exhibition with paintings by a very talented Palestinian artist from Nahr el-Bared, and children’s paintings and photographs from there. The exhibition will be held at the R.A. Fine Arts Gallery, No. 6 Jalan Aman, (off Jalan Tun Razak) 55000 Kuala Lumpur from 19 – 24 November 2007. It will be open for public viewing every day from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The artist, Rouhaifa Qassim will be present at the launching of the exhibition on Tuesday, 20 November 2007 at 8.pm at the Gallery. She will give a short talk on the meaning of painting in war and conflict. The event will be officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Deputy Information Minister. Attendance is free and donations are welcome. A tax-deductible receipt will be issued for all donations (JHDN 01/35/42/51/179- 6.716).

Rouhaifa’s paintings on exhibition have all been created in the short time period from June to September 2007 and are an expression of art which is born under harshest conditions, the despair of dispossession and loss of the Palestinians, and the hope for a better life one day in their own homeland.

In addition to Rouhaifa, twelve local artists, such as Dato’ Syed Ahmad Jamal, Dr. Zakaria Ali, Ahmad Fuad Osman, Tan Sei Hon, Patrik Lasak and Long Tien Shih to name a few, will also be participating.

All paintings will be up for sale. All profits from the sale of Rouhaifa’s paintings and a share of the sale from the local artists’s paintings will also go to the people of Nahr el-Bared.
